Earlier this week Reps. Diana DeGette (D-CO), Fred Upton (R-MI) and 75 of their colleagues in the House introduced the Research Investment to Spark the Economy (RISE) Act (H.R.869). The bill authorizes approximately $25 billion for NIH and our nation’s other research agencies to use in addressing research funding gaps created by COVID-19. Senators Edward Markey (D-MA) and Thom Tillis (R-NC), along with Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Gary Peters (D-MI), introduced a companion bill in the Senate. Urge your Members of Congress to support shoring up our pandemic-weakened research capacity by signing on as a cosponsor. The more Members who sign on, the more momentum will grow for research relief!
