This week has proven to be a rollercoaster on the Fiscal Year 2021 and emergency supplemental appropriations fronts. While there were signs that lawmakers would finalize an FY21 omnibus funding package before the current Continuing Resolution (CR) expires on December 11, negotiators have hit some roadblocks and reports are that another short term CR may be necessary. On the supplemental side, after weeks of stalemate, a group of bipartisan lawmakers this week released a $908 billion relief proposal as the basis for kickstarting new negotiations. Weighing in now with your Members of Congress can make the difference! Ask them to ensure robust funding levels for federal research agencies in FY21, as well as emergency funding to restart research stalled or sidelined because of the pandemic.
