Yesterday, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee approved the Research Investment to Spark the Economy (RISE) Act (S.4286). This bill, introduced by Sens. Edward Markey (D-MA), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Gary Peters (D-MI), and Cory Gardner (R-CO), would authorize $26 billion to help address the harm COVID-19 has wrought on our nation's research abilities and infrastructure. The next step for this important legislation is a vote by the full Senate. A Floor vote would bring much needed attention to the need for supplemental research funding, setting the stage for the inclusion of $26 billion for research relief in the next supplemental spending bill. Reach out to your Senators now and urge them to weigh in with Senate leadership in support of holding that vote!
