U.S. Senate leadership and the White House have reportedly agreed on a supplemental spending package that includes $15.5 billion to supplement NIH grants redirected or delayed by COVID-19. The House package includes $5 billion for that purpose. Federal leaders are clearly attuned to the need for research recovery, but they need your input to assure the final package includes at least $15.5 billion for NIH and $16 billion to restore eroded research grant funding from NSF and other key science agencies. Now is the time to reach out to your Members of Congress and urge them to champion research recovery!
