The proposed Dog's Head Development will affect more than 2,600 acres along the free-flowing section of Colorado River. The current agreement was negotiated behind closed doors, without a public process, and was approved before many nearby residents even knew it existed. Now, they are asking taxpayers to subsidize the project with more than $2.2 billion in tax incentives, blindsiding the local community and bypassing normal City standards of accountability and environmental protections.

Speak Up to the Austin Mayor, Austin City Council, Travis County Commissioner's Court, and other key City leaders, demanding that they REJECT tax subsidies for the current Dog' Head proposal, require an open, transparent public process, protect the Colorado River and neighboring communities, and ensure PUBLIC investments benefit the community first and foremost.

As a resident of Austin and Travis County, I urge you to reject the proposed $2.2 billion in tax subsidies for the Dog&rsquo;s Head development. The Austin City Council approved this agreement without meaningful public input, disregarding the concerns of nearby residents, the health of the Colorado River, and the protection of local wildlife. This rushed decision prioritized the profit interests of an undisclosed Fortune 100 company over the taxpayers and residents of our community.&nbsp;
East Austin residents deserve more than one week&rsquo;s notice to review the terms of a Development Agreement that exempts the Dog&rsquo;s Head from development regulations that will impact their communities. And, the Colorado River (and the species that rely on it) deserve our careful consideration of the environmental standards necessary to protect its water quality and riparian habitats.&nbsp;
As a taxpayer, I strongly oppose the use of City of Austin and Travis County tax dollars to subsidize a development that disregards public input, undermines environmental protections, and prioritizes developers&rsquo; and corporations&rsquo; profits over the public good. If these tax revenues are generated, they should be invested in priorities that benefit the entire community, such as supporting parks, libraries, public safety, housing, and social services.&nbsp;
A project of this magnitude and its potentially harmful impacts deserves more thorough scrutiny. As a local elected official, I urge you to postpone voting on the proposed TIRZ and avoid moving forward on the Development Agreement until the public has been given meaningful opportunities to review, understand, and provide input. If you do move forward with voting on the proposed TIRZ, I urge you to reject it. The City of Austin and Travis County should be investing in its people and working toward restoring environmental harm, not backroom deals.&nbsp;
