Kids Can't Wait: Urge your Representatives to INTRODUCE and cosponsor the Kids Online Safety Act!

The Kids Online Safety Act has been reintroduced in the Senate by Senators Blackburn (R-TN) and Blumenthal (D-CT) with the support of Leaders Thune (R-SD) and Schumer (D-NY) as well as 65 cosponsors to date. This important legislation establishes a duty of care for Big Tech platforms, requiring social media platforms to prevent foreseeable harms to children! After coming incredibly close to passage last congress, it is imperative and urgent that Congress pass the Kids Online Safety Act (S. 1748).

Fatalities and serious harm to minors continue as a result of specific practices and features developed for social media platforms. Tech platforms refuse to take responsibility for the harmful design features on their platforms and the negative effects it has on children. To combat any attempt to hold them accountable, they have created confusion and spread misinformation around the bill – despite the fact that it is
widely considered the most comprehensive child protection legislation moving through Congress today and passed the Senate 91-3 last session!

America’s children cannot wait one more day, let alone one more legislative session, for the important protections offered by KOSA. Congress must take action – Big Tech has proved that it is incapable of policing itself.
Every other industry is regulated, why does Big Tech get a free pass?

Your Representatives must hear from you! Please urge leaders to introduce the Kids Online Safety Act this session, and follow the Senates momentum to passing KOSA.

Dear Representative [First name, Last name],

I am a constituent in your state, and I am writing to let you know that the Kids Online Safety Act (S. 1748) has been reintroduced this session by Senator Blackburn (R-TN) and Senator Blumenthal (D-CT) with support of Senate Leadership and 65 cosponsors. KOSA is the most comprehensive child protection bill pending in Congress today, and passed the Senate with the support of 91 Senators in July 2024. We can not wait any longer, this bill MUST be introduced in the House now.

There is irrefutable evidence that Big Tech is endangering America’s youth. Fatalities and serious harm to minors continue as a result of specific practices and features developed for social media platforms. Tech platforms refuse to take responsibility for the harmful design features on their platforms and the negative effects it has on children. To stop any attempt to hold them accountable for the harms they have caused, they have spread misinformation about KOSA. The language introduced this session includes additional safeguards ensuring the protection of free speech as well as reinforces the fact that KOSA is about conduct, NOT content.

KOSA has widespread national support, with over 415 national, state, and local organizations supporting the Kids Online Safety Act.

Please stand up to Big Tech and join us to be a champion for America’s Youth. Please introduce and cosponsor KOSA!

Sincerely,
