Did you know that up to 64% of New Mexicans are lactose intolerant? And yet dairy milk is a required offering in the National School Lunch Program. Without a doctor’s note, children are unable to access nutritionally equivalent plant-based alternatives, such as soy milk. This translates into thousands of children every day across New Mexico who are not getting the proteins and other nutrients they need at lunchtime for health and learning—and many are getting a stomachache instead. This is not right.

At APNM, we are laying the groundwork to get plant-based alternatives to dairy milk in every school in New Mexico so that no child is denied the healthy beverage of their choice.

Here is what you can do:

Help ensure every child in New Mexico has access to healthy plant-based milk options in school by signing our petition.
