SB 227 will prohibit the promotion of “discriminatory practices” and “divisive concepts” in public schools, such as teaching that “one race or sex is inherently superior to another race or sex,” or that, “an individual, solely by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive.” Governor Josh Stein vetoed this bill on July 3rd, 2025.
Please contact your State Senator and House Member and urge them to vote to OVERRIDE the governor's veto and support SB 227—Eliminating “DEI” in Public Schools that would ensure a meaningful education based on academic excellence for children in North Carolina’s public schools.
