Ask Your Legislator to Vote YES to Protect Children from Pornography

Since 2022, 23 states have passed laws that require pornography websites to verify that users are 18 or older, a similar requirement to age verification for gambling or alcohol purchases. This protects children from exposure to porn and the serious harms that come with it.

It’s time for Pennsylvania to act!  Your lawmaker needs to hear from you. HB 1513 and SB 603 would help stop minors from accessing porn online and give parents stronger tools to protect their children’s digital lives.

  • Research has shown that by age 17, about 75% of adolescents have been exposed to pornography.
  • The majority of pornography online is extremely violent, misleading, degrading, and objectifying.
  • The pornography industry is known to market its appeal to younger and younger users, who can become addicted to it for many years (similar to how Big Tobacco has targeted children in campaigns of past decades).
  • As a result of mass exposure to pornography from a young age, the well-being, development, relationships, and mental health of Pennsylvania’s children and teens have been significantly undermined.

Porn companies have profited off of minors for too long. It is now Pennsylvania’s turn to step up and protect children as well as empower parents to direct their children’s upbringing.
