Petition to Congress: Pass the Social Security Expansion Act

For too long, millions of older Americans have struggled to keep up with the rising cost of living while relying on outdated Social Security benefits that haven’t kept pace. The Social Security Expansion Act is a bold and necessary step forward to strengthen benefits, ensure cost-of-living adjustments reflect seniors’ real expenses, and require the wealthiest Americans to finally pay their fair share into the program.

The Senior Citizens League is urging Congress to take immediate action. This legislation would:

Increase monthly Social Security benefits by $200 for all recipients.
Improve the COLA formula to better reflect seniors' actual spending, including healthcare.
Secure long-term funding by lifting the payroll tax cap on the highest earners.
