Take Action: Save Women’s Sports in Pennsylvania
If we believe in equal opportunities for women, that must include sports. Girls are losing their right to a fair playing field in sports because they are being forced to compete against male athletes.
This isn’t about hard work - it’s about biology. Male athletes have physical performance advantages that propel them to outperform women athletes. These biological differences are why sports are separated by sex in the first place.
Forcing girls to compete against boys removes equal opportunities, crushes female-made records, and takes away countless chances at scholarships and awards. This unfair reality is becoming increasingly prevalent in Pennsylvania and throughout the nation, and flies in the face of Title IX (Nine) enacted by Congress 50 years ago.
In the PA Senate, a group of 10 female State Senators - led by Sen. Judy Ward, Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill and Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward, have introduced the Save Women’s’ Sports Act, Senate Bill 9. “Allowing a biological male to compete on a women’s scholastic athletic team puts all women on the playing field at an automatic disadvantage,” they write in support of this bill.
In the PA House, State Representatives Barb Gleim, Martina White, and Stephanie Borowicz have reintroduced the Save Women’s Sports Act, House Bill 158.
A 2025 poll found over three-fourths of parents (78%) oppose males who identify as females competing on girls’ sports teams. (Parents Defending Education)
The Save Women’s Sports Act would ensure girls in Pennsylvania are not forced to compete against boys in sex-specific sports.
