Stand with Survivors: Call on Your Legislators to Pass Survivor Model in 2025!

It is critical that legislators consider the Survivor Model in 2025 to ensure that sex buyers are held accountable for perpetuating the harms of the sex trade. The global sex trade is a 150 billion dollar on and offline industry, where every dollar of profit is fueled by human pain and psychological trauma. This isn’t just a tragedy; it’s a form of modern-day slavery.

The Survivor Model would rightly criminalize pimps, traffickers, and those who buy sex. The harms of the sex trade are numerous, and increasing the penalty for buyers to a felony is essential to curbing the demand for sexual exploitation. Systems of prostitution cannot exist without sex trafficking, which is fueled by the demand for sex by buyers. Although we often discuss ending sex trafficking, the focus is not on buyers, which leaves them to inflict unchecked harm. As Dr. Melissa Farley, founder of Prostitution Research and Education (PRE) found, between 53 – 72% of people in prostitution suffer from Traumatic Brain Injuries, typically resulting from attacks by sex buyers. Coercion, force, and fraud make prostitution possible, which is despicable for those in the sex trade.

We must encourage legislators to pass the Survivor Model to protect victims of the sex trade. Please take action below to ask your legislators to SUPPORT the survivor model.
