Encourage Your Senators & Representatives to Take Action by Co-sponsoring Essential Child Protection Legislation

Tech platforms knowingly facilitate the sexual exploitation of children online. The evidence is astounding; which is why, in January 2024, the Senate Judiciary Committee called 5 Big Tech CEOs to answer for the sexual exploitation of children that has run rampant on their platforms.
CEOs from Discord, Meta, Snap, TikTok, and X had to answer for why, for example, Wall Street Journal, found that algorithms on social media platforms are designed to push sexual content to adults and encourage them to connect with children. Four bills are essential to protect children online: The EARN IT Act (S. 1207/ HR 2732);
SHIELD Act (S. 412/ HR. 3686); the Project Safe Childhood Act (S. 1170/ HR. 2661) and Kids Online Safety Act (S. 1409) need to pass soon to protect America's children from further harm.

Take action to tell your Senators and Representatives to co-sponsor this legislation and demand that these bills are up for a vote.

Dear Rep. [First Name, Last Name],

Tech platforms are knowingly facilitating the sexual exploitation of children online.

This is why the Senate Judiciary Committee held a Hearing with Big Tech CEOs on January 31: Big Tech and the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Crisis.

Children across the country are victimized on social media platforms – the production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and the presence of sextortion cases in every state is on the rise. Adult predators are contacting and grooming children online at unprecedented rates.

Congress must pass legislation, because Big Tech does not police itself. Take action to protect children in your state by co-sponsoring the following package of essential child protection legislation:

  • EARN IT Act (S. 1207/HR. 2732) → Gives victims of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) a path to justice and a chance to restore their privacy; changes incentives facing Big Tech, which does little to prevent CSAM circulation.
  • Kids Online Safety Act (S. 1409) → Establishes a duty of care on online platforms, requiring them to enable the strongest safety settings by default, providing safeguards and tools for minors and parents.
  • SHIELD Act (S. 412/ HR. 3686) → Establishes a criminal offense to knowingly mail or distribute, or threaten to distribute an intimate visual depiction of an individual or minor without their consent and with malicious intent.
  • Project Safe Childhood (S.1170/ HR. 2661) → Modernizes DOJ's Project Safe Childhood program to address childhood sexual exploitation, and improves coordination with law enforcement and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces.

Please co-sponsor this legislation, and ask leadership to bring these bills for a floor vote.

Sincerely,
