Now is the Time: Ask your Senator to Encourage Leader Schumer to bring KOSA up for a Vote!

This week, Senators Blumenthal (D-CT) and Blackburn (R-TN) announced that the Kids Online Safety Act (S.1409) has  12 new cosponsors in just 10 days, following the Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing with Big Tech CEOs on January 31, 2024.This hearing shined the spotlight on what we know to be true: Big Tech knows about the harms that platforms are causing to children, and chooses to ignore them in the name of profit.

This brings the total number of cosponsors to 62.

S.1409, the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), provides the most comprehensive solution of any bill pending before the 118th Congress. The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) changes social media platforms’ focus from a duty of profit— exploiting children’s developmental vulnerabilities—to a duty of care, protecting children’s safety and wellbeing. KOSA poses no threat to encryption or privacy. Online, copyrighted videos are taken down within seconds of posting – and yet, videos of infants being sexually abused are allowed to remain?

Now is the time to side with children. Without your protection, the next generation will crumble under the weight of the abuse and bullying that Big Tech is promoting. Without action in this Congress, thousands more children will be harmed by social media. There are no more excuses for Congress not to take action.

Please contact your Senators to ask them to encourage Leader Schumer to bring KOSA up for a vote in the Senate!
